5:34 am
advises folks to do. in this type of weather clear the snow from your car because that can be a hazard when you're driving on these main roads, even though the roads are clear. the main roads are very passible at this point. plows have been out salting and plowing but, you know, if you have a bunch of snow on your car, you're really creating a hazard for the car and the driver behind you of let's take a look at some video that was shot earlier this morning. we kind of deciding dragged through -- deciding dragged -- zigzagged through several communities. you can see how conditions have changed in the last few hours and how conditions are very different and vary depending on where you're coming from. however, we have seen lots of snowplows in the area so certainly the plows are doing the job and clearing some of the main roads, but again the advice this morning, be careful when you're heading on these
5:35 am
side roads. you're still going to encounter lots of snowy side roads that haven't been plowed just yet. so take it slow when you're out on the roads. we'll have more advice for you coming up at 6:00. recently when we did a story on the snow when it wasn't quite snowing, we were letting folks know about some driving tips that aaa had passed on to us. and we will pass that on to you before you head out to work this morning. back to you. >> thanks, delia. always get g to get the reminder. governor bob mcdonnell is visiting northern virginia today. during lunch time he will be touting his transportation proposals at the center for innovative technology in herndon. he has placed four northern virginia projects on his wish list. they include the metro extension to dulles, work on the i-95 interchange in stafford, route 606/dulles loop in loudoun county and a new route 28/i-66 interchange in fairfax county. much hinges on the proposal to limit the gas tax and replace
